The avid filipinos finally took a stand on cheating and the sorts, that has been causing depression in the country.
Being deprived of living well because of the economy, some of us is starving, homeless and begging in the streets. Will the new leaders who will run in the election make a difference?

I just turned 19 last march, and now is legally of age to vote. I've seen ads everywhere where the campaign managers are urging the public that we should be involved with today's crisis and the upcoming elections. YES. We should! for our future lies on whoever will seat on the palace, and whether we like it or not, we are INVOLVED.
What really impressed me with these ads that has been very active in the public is the fact that filipinos are aware and becoming wise voters. The filipino people has surely evolved and are not shunned by popular icons in the country. Just like when Manny Pacquiao ran for a place in his province, people were actually THINKING this time. Unlike what happened when Joseph Estrada ran for presidency, people were voting him for his image and his popularity but not really looking at what he can actually do with the little knowledge of being in position. Ika nga, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.
As i said, i am of legal age to vote. And I, as part of the youth, am going to vote wisely. Unswayed by votes and schemes of these politicians. We should always read between the lines, not the fragrances they emit JUST during the election period. To tell you the truth, their TV ads make me sick. They are giving me the impression that the Philippines is just about dirty politics. With this, the more we should always push for change.

One thing i really like about this upcoming elections, is the growing public awareness. Recently, the "Ako MISMO" campaign has been implemented by SMART/PLDT* The "Ako MISMO" is about to be able to stand on your own feet and fight for what you believe in. (You can visit their site at: www.akomismo.org) I even find their TV advertisement very interesting and empowering.

Another that has been an eye opener for the public is the ABS-CBN's "Boto mo, ipatrol mo" campaign. It gives the normal citizens a chance to actually to be involved in a way they couldn't before. It made the filipinos care more about their country, and helped lessen the growing apathy in the youth. As they started with a slogan in their multiply account: "You, dear citizen, have the power to effect change on what you don’t like and replicate the good that you see and do.*" We can really see how the filipino is urging for a clean politics this time. Well, nothing is impossible.

So we ask the question, are the filipinos going to take a stand? I say, YES WE WILL. It's a long shot, but i know we can do it.

Go Philippines, Go filipino youth,
Fernan, A.C. a certified filipino who cares for this country.

  1. I don't think the people who's voting for Erap is voting just because of his popularity, but i think he have done something for the country that made him worthy for their votes, for them.

I agree to what you have said that Filipino citizens these days are more aware and more involved for the upcoming election. Even myself, before, things that I considered to be adult stuff like politics should only be solve by the adults. But I don't think that way now. I am more concerned of our country's economical and political condition now. Or is it just because I'm more mature now that I'm becoming more aware of adult stuff like politics. Ö

  2. I think its not the matter of maturity, its the matter of awareness. Well that is only an opinion, but i really believe that we can care about this country at a young age.

Its not like i hate Erap (never took things personally... i dont even know him personally ahaha) , i just dont find him very appealing to run for presidency. I have even questions about his credibility since his running for presidency in 2010.
    1. Wasn't he impeached? Was it the people who threw him out? Or was it some big scheme.
    2. Read his bibliography: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0261825/bio

I think he has a kind heart, but is that enough to fuel a whole country. I remember my philo teacher said, who ever is the next president will not be a popular president. She felt sad for whoever is next, "luoy jud kaau siya" (he/she is pitiful).

  3. What the filipino people need is an open mind for change.

If we were to take all the motorela because its beneficial (this is just an example, i really dont know if it beneficial or it may ruin the economy)... do you think that there wont be an outbreak.. or rallies everywhere? If we were to open our mind... but i guess the government has to also do their part..

Well complicated talaga ang politics.. 8D

  4. At least the people in Gen San didn't vote for Pacman, that's something you certainly come across everyday. But to the other Failipinos, they still go for popularity. I can't believe there are still supporters of Erap even though everyone knows he sucked at being president.

Ako Mismo campaign is a good way of empowering the youth to participate in the elections this 2010. However, I'm still not quite ready to vote as I have not seen a worthy presidential candidate.

I, too, have to review the candidates for the upcoming elections. I still don't have a candidate in mind.
